Do you feel like you need extra cash? Maybe just a little reward for all of the things you purchase throughout the year? Now, you can! One simple ap, called Fetch. This short post will tell you how I have been using it over the past 6 months. 

When I began looking for a few extra dollars, I came across many apps that promised money back if you did certain tasks. First, I used an app, that said you could scan receipts, but you only got 1 point for a receipt unless you shopped at a place that was a "bonus store" for the day. Well, that was irritating. Plus, you had to take survey's, play games or download games for extra points. For real, who has time for this?  I sure did not, so I kept searching.

Within a few days, I had my first $5 dollar gift card. Not much, but hey, if this could happen every few days or a few times a month, it could help. Fetch is so easy to use. Whenever I go shopping, I open the app, hit the picture button, and take a picture of my receipt. 

 Their app, automatically would scan the receipt for points. 

Fetch gives you 25 points for just the receipt and then if there are products that are a bonus that day, on your receipt, Fetch will reward you with extra points. I have had receipts that would reward me with 200-300 points, just for taking a picture. I didn't even have to think that hard! When I have a few extra minutes, I may scan through their app and see if there are products I buy that I can keep an eye on when I am at the store. If someone was very savvy, I know you would earn more than 200-300 points. Also, they have fun programs to help your schools and charities. But, if you love the fun games and contests, you are able to join them with Fetch. They have contests for who can earn the most points and little games within the app. 

When you reach a minimum of 5,000 points, you can trade your points in for gift cards. Fetch has so many different companies they partner with from Amazon, T-shirts to donating to a local foundation. 

Do I find this helpful to earn a few bucks each month, yes! My family has now caught on to give me any receipt when they go out, even without me! When we go to gas stations or a small convenient store, we grab a receipt, it is an easy 25 points! A few examples could be: cooking, teaching, books, tools, etc. With Amazon, I have been sharing products I love, but I don't have a main focus. I have saved the main focus for my blog sites.

I slowly introduced Instagram and am currently discovering a few ideas there.

Honestly, I have bookmarked a few analytic sites and will dive into those as I get further along. Right now, I need to focus on my mind map.

Which stay at home opportunity is best? 

Since diving in and using both myself for a few months now, I have my opinion…well somewhat. Both MTurk and Branded Surveys are simple to use. I found that with MTurk, you did have to dig for what you are eligible for and find what ones have a good payout besides $0.01. Branded Surveys, I found that the survey would say 5 minutes, but by the time you did the pre-questioning, you could be 30 minutes in and still working on the survey. Do they both pay out? Yes, MTurk went right into my bank account every week. I do believe I set MTurk up to pay out at $0.50. Branded Survey, yes the pay was there, but I have not had it transferred to my account yet. I also found that if you didn’t keep up with Branded Surveys, you would lose your “standings”, and would need to rework your way to a specific rank. I had to do 12 survey’s a week, but you had to qualify for them. If you did  not qualify, the survey did not count. 

Final Thoughts!

If you are sitting at home and want to make a few extra dollars, this is great. Is it going to make you rich? No, maybe over time, I mean, one survey said I did so well for them, they sent me an extra $0.64! I loved being able to find out what transcribing was all about and learning about some research projects going on. I will probably keep playing around with both stay at home opportunities and play around some more. But, for now, I will continue to work on finding my perfect “work from home, for passive income,” adventure!

Let's Talk Etsy

My first thought of a job to do from home- Let's talk Etsy.  Have you heard of Etsy? Who has not? I am pretty sure so many of you have heard of Etsy, shopped on Etsy, or bought something from Etsy. Etsy is something I like to browse through, similar to Pinterest, but I can actually buy the product and I love it! Plus, going through Etsy, you are supporting small shops or someone with a small dream of earning extra money (enter my smile here)!

Now, I have played with a few things on Etsy for a few years, and decided, now is the time to take the plunge and see what happens. Knowing how Etsy works, I know that this will take me a few months to really get a good idea of how everything works. But, I also know my personality and I don't like to fail and I like things to work quickly and easily. This can cause some extra stress, right? How am I going to handle this? How would you handle this? One way I have approached this is positive self talk. When I thought about positive self talk, I thought, Hey I have a whole board on Pinterest for quotes I love, like and live by. Could I possibly use this for my Etsy shop? And, that is how I started. 

Many tools that I have used to start this adventure is YouTube and the very honest TikTok (HA). I have found so many sites that has helped guide me to get started, but honestly have also made me more overwhelmed. I have had to take baby steps and not try to tackle the whole thing at one time. I have made a list and I am slowly making my way through the list until (hopefully) this all starts rolling. 

I started making a few different prints and AI art prints to have available in my shop. I seem to be getting views, but no purchases, yet. I also get a ton of messages about helping me with marketing. I am thankful for some that are reaching out, but like I said this is a side hobby I am trying to build. I don't want to dump a ton of money right now, when the goal is to make money. Will I have to eventually? Most likely! 

In conclusion, I am trying to build this adventure. I am trying to enjoy this adventure and not just turn to teaching materials like I am good at making.  I need to think and reach outside of the box. I need to be brave and take a risk. I see many people making an Etsy shop a great side job. They are making money and doing well. This could be a great option for you if you are wanting to try something from home and you have a great idea! So, give it a chance, research and see if Etsy could be right for you!

The Adventure Begins

 Well, the adventure begins. If you know me, you know I love numbers. Naturally, that means I love money. I am always looking for ways to make some extra money on the side for fun. Why?  I make decent money, my husband makes decent money, but I always find that we have enough for what I have made a budget for. I want that extra money for extra trips, a fun activity, or to pay for soccer and dance. When I look at the big picture, I feel like I make decent money, but I am a teacher. Need I say more? I know that if I broke down my yearly salary with what work I do, I am probably making pennies. So, I find myself looking for extra money all of the time. 

Let's start from the beginning. I started teaching 18 years ago....18! I love my job, I really do. However, I have found over the last 18 years, that teaching has become more and more difficult, especially since 2021. So about 7 years ago, I started teaching online teaching English to kids over in China. After all, teaching is what I know. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I put my heart into teaching. I put so much of my life into my teaching. But, I love it. In the middle of this teaching side job, we decided to move and build a home. Teaching in the early mornings became more difficult. I am not a morning person at all, but I was doing it. Long story short, after we moved into our new home in 2019, China decided they didn't want out of country teachers teaching their children. There are many other reasons for China's decision as well, but that is a whole other story. Well, there went that side money. 

Since Covid, we are all aware the money doesn't grow on trees! Prices have gone up and let's face it....I am getting old. Our kids are growing up and that means a little (lot) more money being put towards their soccer and dance. When they get older, we might feel like we hit the jackpot. I am tired of wishing for extra money to do a few of the extreme things we want to enjoy. So, here I am again, trying to find extra money. 

Let's talk about what I have done so far. I have researched! Since I am a teacher, that basically means I am in counseling to talk about many things my job comes with. I am finding that my one main hobby is TEACHING. And teaching, is taking a toll on me. During Covid, I could sleep and I was so easy going, but since I returned, I saw that teaching was really affecting my life.  I needed to find something away from teaching and to enjoy for me. 

I decided through my research and the love I have for making digital products, why not start an Etsy shop? This is where I am right now. Researching and trying my hand at an Etsy Shop. Am I going to become rich? Well, I joke I will. I will be happy with an extra $500 a month really, that's all I want. Through my research I have found that I wanted something I can do on my own, on my own time- enter Etsy Shop here. I have found many different opportunities during my research to bring in some extra money, that I have so many different ideas. Besides my Etsy Shop, I decided I am going to blog about some of the jobs I have found and what happens with them, when I try them. I have come across some really amazing routes to earn some extra income. But, I do know that doing this on my own, it is going to be some time before money comes in and it is going to take some work.  

So, the adventure begins. I wanted to share what products have helped me! This blog will guide you into some opportunities that you might be interested in trying. It may not be the Etsy Shop, but it could be little things like transcribing, reading books, writing books, etc. Through the blog, I will share how my Etsy Shop is doing and how it is going (it will make me be more patient and stick with it).
